Blacksmith Shop by Colin Campbell Cooper

The American Impressionist Colin Campbell Cooper (1856-1937) was born in Philadelphia, studied under Thomas Eakins and travelled widely. Known for his paintings of the modern industrial skyline, here he paints the preindustrial blacksmith's shop.

"Blacksmith Shop" is part of the Labor Arts exhibit Scenes of American Labor with paintings that evoke the individual and physical experience of work. The entire series is housed at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
