Si, Se Puede!/ Yes, We Can!

The "Justice for Janitors" campaign in Los Angeles in April 2000 is the subject of the beautifully illustrated bilingual children's book we have excerpted here.  The campaign aimed to organize the largely immigrant workers who clean the city's office buildings each night.  The book was inspired by the extraordinary efforts and courage of the people who work as janitors.

The text for the book was written by Diana Cohn, the illustrations are by Francis Delgado, and a poem by Luis J Rodriguez is included.  The story is told by Carlos, a janitor's son, about his mother.
