Confrontation with the police during maritime strike, San Francisco, 1936.
This photograph, from the same series as the previous image, was not taken by Daniel Nilva himself. He made copies of this and about twenty other images from the 1936 maritime strike on the west coast, which were later found among his archives. This image was labeled; "11/24/36 we are prepared to fight to the finish." Note the tear gas cloud, the strikers running, and the numerous police present including two on horseback.
