Labor Arts is pleased to present this sampling of historically resonant songs from the NYC Labor Chorus CD Workers Rise. The chorus, founded in 1991, has a membership of about 75 members who represent over 20 labor unions and other workers' organizations. They sing songs of labor struggles, protest, and social significance, and perform a repertoire that ranges through the traditions of gospel, jazz, classical and folk music. The chorus performs in concert halls around the nation and the world, on picket lines, at union conventions, union rallies and shop steward meetings, as well as at community events, churches, colleges, and schools.
