A good deal of our creativeness flowed from the summers during which our band played in the Catskills at the Arrowhead Lodge in Ellenville, New York,both before and after World War II. One number that I had to do every week, for reasons that you will soon see. was based on the name of our employer at Arrowhead - Yudel Slutsky. When you combine that with the fact that the chef's Sunday lunch dessert was always apple shtrudel, it is inevitable that you will reach the same conclusion I did, and that was that here was a natural song, which I named “Shoot the Shtrudel to me Yudel,” and which went:
