James Johnson of Local 129, International United Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, prepares the bronze base of the Rockefeller Center statue of Prometheus for regilding.

Regilding Prometheus, 1974: Before

In 1974, a special project at Rockefeller Center restored the gilt finish on the 18-foot high, 8-ton bronze statue of Prometheus. Here Nick Santyllo from Local 1011 and Joseph Innamorata, Local 874, prepare the bronze statue for gilding.
