Shown here are staff members Robert Arroyo and Linda Kriegeris at the reception desk in the modern health care facility. The center, directed by Karen Nelson, MD, was dedicated in 1989 by then Senator Al Gore. Today, the center has bilingual providers prepared to offer the full range of medical services, including medical review. Where necessary, patients are referred to external health facilities.
The Center has won national recognition for dealing with diabetes—a growing disease among New Yorkers—with special attention to the elderly and those with limited incomes.
